Business Reorganization/Bankruptcy Law
Ms. Malik earned a Bachelors of Business Administration in Accounting from the University of Texas at Austin in 1990 and her law degree from Southern Methodist University in 1993.
Ms. Malik is a member of the Board of Directors for the Dallas Chapter of the International Women's Insolvency & Restructuring Confederation. She also is a member of the Board of Directors for Girls in Motion. Ms. Malik is a sustaining member of the Dallas Junior League. She is also a member of the Dallas Bar Association.
Ms. Malik was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in 1993. She has also been admitted to the United States District Courts for the Northern and Eastern Districts of Texas.
Ms. Malik practices primarily in the area of bankruptcy, representing corporate entities in reorganization proceedings, but has considerable experience in all aspects of the bankruptcy process representing debtors, secured and unsecured creditors, creditor committees and bankruptcy trustees in both corporate reorganization and liquidation proceedings.
As part of her practice, Ms. Malik also has extensive transactional experience in corporate, securities and real estate matters. In recent years, Ms. Malik's practice has focused on representing lenders and servicers in real estate loan workouts and foreclosures.
