Ms. Ellis earned a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Political Science, cum laude, from Southern Methodist University in 1992. Ms. Ellis earned her law degree, cum laude, from the Southern Methodist University College of Law in 1995.
As well as being a member of the American Bar Association, Ms. Ellis is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute, the International Women's Insolvency & Restructuring Confederation, the Dallas Bar Association and the John C. Ford American Inn of Court.
Ms. Ellis was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in 1995. She has also been admitted to the United States District Courts for the Northern, Eastern and Southern Districts of Texas, and the Middle District of Tennessee; the United States Courts of Appeal for the Fifth and Sixth Circuits; and the United States Supreme Court.
Ms. Ellis practices primarily in the area of bankruptcy, representing corporate entities in reorganization proceedings. Ms. Ellis has participated in many large reorganization cases nationwide, and has considerable experience in negotiating and drafting plans of reorganization and corresponding disclosure statements in Chapter 11 cases involving numerous related entities. As part of her practice, Ms. Ellis has also engaged in major litigation arising under the Bankruptcy Code and related to Chapter 11 reorganizations, and has structured informal workouts for troubled companies. Ms. Ellis has participated in many large reorganization cases nationwide and has appeared in Bankruptcy Courts across the country.
